The Grass is Greener: Cannabis and Real Estate

4 CREDITS

CLASSROOM

The legalization of cannabis has increased the demand for both residential and commercial properties. This creates issues related to grow houses, property values, crime, and property management. According to a recent survey conducted by the National Association of REALTORS®(NAR), thirty-three percent (33%) of members who have sold grow houses in states where both medical and recreational marijuana is legal had difficulty selling those residential properties. This course will help clear the smoke surrounding some of these issues.

Course Completion Outcomes:

  • List the major issues facing the real estate industry with the state legalization of cannabis use.
  • Identify the impacts and considerations of cannabis grow houses/farms, dispensaries and use on real estate.
  • Recognize the legal pitfalls associated with cannabis in financing, title companies, insurance and rentals.

This course is eligible for CE in the following states:

  • Kansas: 4 hours
  • Missouri: 3 hours
