In Memoriam: Walt Frey, CRS, 2002 Residential Real Estate Council Past National President

The Residential Real Estate Council mourns the loss of Walt Frey, CRS, who passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. A distinguished member of the real estate community from Grants Pass, Oregon, Walt was a pillar of the Council whose leadership and dedication helped shape the organization over his more than 35-year involvement.

 

Walt earned his CRS designation in 1987 and immediately began making significant contributions to the Council. His service record reflects an extraordinary commitment to education and leadership, as he served in numerous vital roles, including President (2002), Strategic Planning Committee Chairman (2001), and Product Development Subcommittee Chairman (1988).

 

"He was a giant in the Council as past president, instructor, one of our founders and coached so many of our CRS Certified Instructors," said Mike Selvaggio, CRS, highlighting Walt's profound impact on the organization and its members.

 

Throughout his tenure, Walt held various leadership positions, demonstrating his commitment to excellence in real estate education and professional development. He served on multiple committees, including the Course Coordinating Committee, Faculty Committee, Budget Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. His work on the Instructor/Courses Update Committee and Course Enhancement Program Advisory Group showcased his dedication to maintaining the highest standards of real estate education.

 

Walt's legacy within the Council is marked by his instrumental role in shaping educational programs and mentoring countless real estate professionals. His service as Past President and involvement in the Executive Committee helped guide the organization through growth and transformation.

 

The Residential Real Estate Council extends its deepest condolences to Walt's family, friends and colleagues. His contributions to the real estate profession and the Council will continue influencing and inspiring future generations of real estate professionals.
